27 athletes including 8 from parasports included in TOPS scheme

Kiren Rijiju, the Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Minister, announced that 27 athletes have been included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). All these athletes will be supported towards Olympic preparation.

20 of these athletes have been included in the Core Group of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) in 6 disciplines, while 7 athletes have been included in the Developmental Group.

The Core group includes the likes of Women’s 100m record holder Dutee Chand, Javelin Thrower Shivpal Singh, who has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, and also four Boxers, who have all sealed their ticket for Tokyo.

16-year-old long jumper Shaili Singh is among the 7 young athletes named under the developmental group.

CORE

Athletics: Shivpal Singh, Annu Rani, KT Irfan, Arokia Rajiv, Noah Nirmal Tom, Dutee Chand, Alex Anthony, MR Povamma

Boxing: Satish Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Pooja Rani, Simranjit Kaur

Para-athletics: Vinod Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Ajit Kumar Panchal

Para-badminton: Parul Parmar, Palak Kohli

Para- Table Tennis: Bhavina Patel

Para-Shooting: Rubina Francis, Sidharth Babu

DEVELOPMENTAL

Athletics: Shaili Singh, Tejaswin Shankar, Harsh Kumar, Vithya R, Sandra Babu, Harshita Sherawat, Veeramani Revathi.
