Asian Junior Squash Championships: India win 6 medals; Anahat bags gold

Indian continent bagged 6 medals including a gold and 5 bronze medals at the Asian Juniors Squash Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.

The tournament was held from the 14th of June to the 19th of June. Anahat Singh defeated Kwong Ena of Hong Kong 3-0 in the Girl’s U15 final to take gold.

Anahat dominated her rivals and won her competition without dropping a single set. The 14-year-old became the 1st Indian to win US Junior Squash Open when she clinched the Girl’s U15 title last year. The Delhi girl is set to become the youngest to represent India at World Junior World Championships. She will be representing India at the 2022 World Junior Squash Championship. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Nancy, France from August 11 to 21.

The other Indians who bagged medals were — Shiven Agarwal & Lokesh Subramani (Boy’s U13), Sharan Punjabi (Boy’s U17), Anika Dubey (Girl’s U13) and Tiana Parasrampuria (Girl’s U17). The competitions were held for U13, U15, U17 and U19 age groups. India didn’t win any medal at the U19 level.
