Indian shutters sailed into the final of 3 events at the Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 Junior Championships 2022 in Nonthaburi, Thailand on Friday.
Top seed Unnati Hooda registered a clinical victory over Japan’s Mion Yokuchi 21-8, 21-17 in the semifinals of women’s U17 singles.
In U15 men’s singles, Anish Thoppani entered the final while Gnana Tankara lost in the semis. Thoppani defeated 2nd seed Lee Yu-Jul of Taiwan 18-21, 21-12, 21-12. Tankara lost to Chung-Hsiang Yih of Taiwan 16-21, 21-19, 13-21.
Arsh Mohammad and Sanskar Saraswat stormed into the final of the men’s U17 doubles event. The Indian pair was defeated. Chi-Ruei Chiu & Shao Hua Chiu of Taiwan 21-15, 21-19.
Bjorn Jaison and Athish Sreenivas lost in the semifinals of the men’s U15 doubles. The India duo was knocked out by top-seeded Indonesian pair Muhammad Rizki Mubarrok and Raihan Daffa Edsel Pramono 18-21, 14-21.
