Baroda enters final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Baroda entered the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by defeating Punjab in the second semi-finals at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Put into bat by Punjab, Baroda got off to a slow start and were 64-2 after 10 overs. Ninad Rathva (15 off 15) and hero of the previous match, Vishnu Solanki (12 off 12) got out failing to provide any flow to Baroda’s innings. Skipper Kedar Devdhar (64 off 49) and Karthik Kakade (53* off 41) added 93-runs for the 3rd wicket which helped Baroda reach 160 in 20 overs.

Punjab were never in the chase as they could not get any momentum in their innings after left-arm pacer Lukman Meriwala removed their openers Abhishek Sharma (6) & in form Prabhsimran Singh (15) early. Punjab could manage only in their 20 overs. Skipper Mandeep Singh (42* off 24) top-scored for them while Gurkeerat Singh made with 37-ball 39. For Baroda, Lukman Meriwala took 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs.
