Deaflympics 2021: Vedika Sharma wins India’s fourth medal of the event

Shooter Vedika Sharma clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the ongoing Deaflympics 2021 currently underway in Caxias do Sol, Brazil.

Vedika finished 8th in the qualification round with a score of 538.0 to qualify for the final. The qualification round was topped by compatriot Pranjali Dhumal who finished with a score of 561.0.

In the final round, Sharma edged past Dhumal to win bronze. Dhumal managed a score of 189.1 and ended at the 4th spot while Sharma shot 207.2.

Ukraine’s Inna Afonchenko won gold with a score of 236.3 while Taiwan’s Kao Ya-Ju took won silver with a score of 232.

Vedika’s bronze is India’s fourth medal at the 2021 Deaflympics. India currently stands at the eighth spot with two gold and two bronze medals.
