East Bengal executive committee member threatens fans with “another dose”

Controversies at East Bengal seem to be refusing to end. Amid the turmoil over the signing of the final agreement, fans have now been taken aback by social media comments of a particular member of the club executive committee.

The person in question is Gautam Das a.k.a Tarak. Known to be a close aid of Debabrata “Nitu” Sarkar, Das has tradionally not been known to shy away from speaking his mind on Facebook. In one of his recent comments he referred to protesting fans as “Germs of the drain” and said that they deserve “another dose like the one they got on the 21st”. This seems to be a reference to the police atrocities on agitating fans in front of the club ground on 21st July. Several people, presumably supporters of EB’s ruling regime praised that comment in the reply section.

A fan group named EBRP posted the screenshot of the same on Twitter which drew the attention of East Bengal coach Robbie Fowler. “That’s actually quite disgraceful if true,” he said.

This raises a serious question of whether the events that transpired at Leslie Clausius Sarani that day were indeed orchestrated by the Nitu Sarkar led executive committee.
