The way he plays totally looks like he has mastered the art. Just like a Picasso’s canvas ornated by the brush strokes.

He has the capability of making the ball pass from sight in any direction. Hitting the ball back in the middle of the park by mugging in any stage of the game, thanks to anticipation. With exquisite positional awareness, he was blooming as though he would just station himself and be mobile. He utilises his quality of extra time of watching the ball which makes it look like an effortless rendering.

Came into the limelight in 2007 World T20. The pressure of the crowd, the qualifier for the Semi final, the huge meaning of the day to the country – and India conceded advantage to host but nothing mattered to this 20-year-old youngster. One thing not to be forgotten, Rohit’s overall number in One Day International looks shabby. An average of 30.43 with a strike rate of 77.93 with 2 hundreds to his name after 81 innings. It just added another feather to the team’s hat.

He also gave firm hit back to critics. he got another shot at the opening in 2013 and that very opportunity has completely changed his batting numbers since then. He has turned on the sprinters and flamed off the gas.

Fast forward to 2019-20. Rohit hit the purple patch in the World Cup garnering 648 runs with an average of 81.00. He became the first batsman in the World Cup history to score 5 centuries in single edition.

His ODI career stands with 224 matches, with an average of 49.27 at strike rate of 88.93 and 29 hundreds to his name with mammoth 3 double hundreds to his name in One Day International. The HitMan in Test format is currently a work in progress.

Rohit Sharma’s journey in building a team which is close to likeable at a Franchise like Mumbai Indians is not a one-day effort. Albeit, he had to sacrifice a lot for the team’s success.
