ICC U19 World Cup 2020: Indian Colts thrash Pakistan by 10 wickets in the semifinal

Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena chased down the target in 35.2 overs after the bowlers restricted Pakistan to 172 all out in 43.1 overs.

India thrashed Pakistan by 10 wickets in the semifinal encounter of the ICC 2020 U19 World Cup in Potchefstroom with Yashasvi Jaiswal  smashing a hundred and Divyansh Saxena scoring a half century.India chased down the target of 173 in 35.2 overs.

Opting to bat first,Pakistan got off to a poor start losing the hero of their quarterfinal encounter, Mohammed Huraira(4) in the 2nd over. He was bounced out by left arm pacer Sushant Mishra. Fahad Munir fell for a 16 ball duck, playing out a rash shot off leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

Opener Haider Ali(56) & skipper Rohail Nazir(62) stitched together a 62 run partnership. Part timer Yashasvi Jaiswal provided India with the breakthrough by dismissing Haider. Qasim Akram(9) was run out in the 31st over with score reading 118-4.

Divyansh Saxena took a blinder at deep square leg to send back dangerous looking Mohammed Haris(21) which triggered a collapse. Lower order failed to show any resistance as Pakistan juniors were bowled out for 172 runs in 43.1 overs.

Sushant Mishra was the pick of the Indian bowlers taking 3 wickets for 28 runs. Kartik Tyagi and Ravi Bishnoi shared 2 wickets each while both Atharva Ankolekar and Yashasvi Jaiswal managed one wicket.

In reply,Indian openers Yashasvi  Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena didn’t give Pakistani bowlers even a half chance chasing down the target with ease.  Yashasvi Jaiswal finished with unbeaten 105 runs off 113 balls while Divyansh Saxena scored unbeaten 59 runs off 99 delivered. Yashasvi Jaiswal was named the Player of the Match.

This is India’s 4th straight win against the arch rivals in the U19 World Cup.The defending Champions will face the winner of Bangladesh vs New Zealand in the final on 9th February.
