Indian clinched two gold medals on day 3 of the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Indian athletes compete in as many as 12 sports on Sunday. Here’s a look at all the results:

Weightlifting: India won 2 gold medals on day 3.

19-year-old Jeremy  Lalrinnunga bagged gold in men’s 67kg category with a total of 300kg (140kg+160kg).

20-year-old Achinta Sheuli wins gold in men’s 73kg category with a total of 313kg (143kg+170kg).

Popy Hazarika finished 7th in women’s 59kg category with a total of 183kg (81kg+102kg).

Boxing: It was a mixed day for India in the Boxing ring.

Reigning World Champion Nikhat Zareen knocked out Helena Ismael Bagao of Mozambique to enter the quarterfinal of the women’s 50kg category.

Sagar outclassed Maxime Yegnong of Cameroon to win by unanimous decision 5-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of men’s 92+kg category.

Shiva Thapa went down to Scotland’s Reese Lynch in Round of 16 of men’s 63.5 kg category by split decision 1-4.

In men’s 75kg category, Sumit Kundu lost to Peters Callum of Australia by unanimous  decision in the Round of 16.

Badminton: Indian mixed team beat South Africa 3-0 in the quarterfinals. India will face Singapore in the semifinal on Monday.

Table Tennis: Indian men’s team outclassed Bangladesh 3-0 in the quarterfinal. India will take on Nigeria in the semifinal on Monday.

Lawn Bowls: The team of Rupa Rani Tirkey, Nayanmoni Saikia, Lovely Choubey and Pinki Singh defeated Norfolk Islands 17-9 to enter semifinals of Women’s Fours.

In Men’s Pairs, Sunil Bahadur and Dinesh Kumar defeated England 18-15 to enter quarterfinals. The India duo went down 8-26 against Northern Ireland pair in the quarterfinals.

Hockey: World No.5 Indian men’s hockey team defeated World No.36 Ghana by 11-0 in their opener.

Squash: Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal entered quarterfinals. Chinappa defeated Kaitlyn Watts of New Zealand 3-1 while Ghosal won against David Baillargeon of Canada by 3-0.

Cricket: Indian Women’s defeated Pakistan Women’s by 8 wickets. Pakistan were bowled out for 99 in 18 overs. After which, a blistering knock of 63* (42) by Smriti Mandhana helped India successfuly chase the target of 100 runs in 11.4 overs.

Swimming: Srihari Nataraj qualified for the finals of men’s 50m backstroke. The 21-year-old clocked 25.38 in the semifinal and finished 8th overall. Earlier in the day, he had finished 8th overall in the heats with a timing of 25.52.

Sajan Prakash finished 9th overall in men’s 100m butterfly with a timing of 1:58.99. Prakash missed out on final spot by 0.13 secs.

Gymnastics: Yogeshwar Singh finished 15th among 18 competitors in Men’s All-Around final with a total score of 74.700.

Ruhuja Nataraj finished 17th among 18  in Women’s All-Around final with a total score of 43.000.

Cycling: Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam lost to Australia’s Matthew Glaetzer in the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s sprint event. at the Commonwealth Games.
The 20-year-old Indian finished 0.162s behind former World Champion Glaetzer. Laitonjam had earlier finished 13th in the qualifying round clocking 10.012. David Elkatohchoongo (10.120) and Esow Alben (10.361) were 18th and 23rd in the qualifying round and failed to progress to the pre-quarterfinals.

Vishvajeet Singh reached final in Men’s Pursuit by securing 5th spot in heat 2. He could not finish the final race. Naman Kapil was 11th in heat 1 and failed to progress to the final.

Mayuri Lute was 18th among 23 participants in Women’s time trail with a timing of 38.868.

Triathlon: Quatret of Adarsh Nair, Pragnya Mohan, Vishwanath Yadav and Sanjana Joshi finished 10th among 12 teams in the mixed team relay.
