Indian shuttlers at German Open 2022

The Indian top shuttlers will engage in the Super 300 German Open from today onwards. Due to some reasons or others, many top players did not feature during the home season. Various top shuttlers including Tai Tzu Ying, Yamaguchi will take part in this tournament before the All-England Badminton Championship starting from 16th March.
World Champion silver medallists Kidambi Srikanth will face Brice Leverdez of France in the opening round. On the other hand, another Indian counterpart Lakshya Sen starts his first-round match against Kanthnon Wangchareon of Thailand.
HS Prannoy will face a tough challenge of higher-ranked Na Ka Long Anus of Hong Kong. Parupalli Kashyap would begin his tournament against Kulvant Vitisdarn of Thailand. Kidambi Srikanth would be hoping to perform brilliantly after recovering from COVID. Sen would like to continue his impressive form after being crowned the Indian Open winner.
In the women’s singles, PV Sindhu will take on Busan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand. Saina Nehwal faces the challenge of Yeo J M of Singapore. Sindhu would be looking to impress before taking part in the All-England Badminton Championship tournament. Saina has been struggling with injuries and will be looking to make a mark with some decent performances.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty face an easy draw as they face Liu YC and OU XY of China in the opening round. Arjun MR and Dhruv Kapila will take on Ong YS and Teo E Y of Malaysia. Both Indian pairs would be looking to showcase their mettle against decent opponents.
The women’s doubles pairing of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will take on N Matsuyama and C Shida of Japan. I Bhatnagar and T Crasto move into the second as the Indonesian pair of Ferinanshah and Widaja have withdrawn.
PV Sindhu and other Indian shuttlers would be looking to remove their rustiness as they have not played any international tournament for the last 2 months. Both did not take part in the Badminton Asia Team Championship 2022.
