Indian squad for inaugural Hockey 5s announced

Hockey India (HI) has announced a nine-member Indian men’s hockey team for the inaugural edition of FIH Hockey 5s. The two-day tournament is scheduled to take place on June 4-5, 2022 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Hockey5s is a hockey variant which features five players on each team (including a goalkeeper). The field of play is 55 m long and 41.70 m wide—this is approximately half the size of a regular pitch.

Defender Gurinder Singh will lead the Indian team. Midfielder Sumit, who was a member of the Tokyo Olympics bronze medal-winning team is also a part of the team.

Team India will face Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland and host Switzerland in the tournament.

Pawan, Sanjay, Mandeep Mor, Gurinder Singh (Captain), Sumit (Vice-Captain), Rabichandra Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Mohd Raheel Mouseen, Gursahibjit Singh
