ISSF Junior World Championship: India wins three more medals, Manu Bhaker takes gold

Manu Bhaker clinched gold as Indian shooters won three more medals at the ISSF Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru, on Thursday.

Manu scored 241.3 for gold in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event while 16-year-old Esha shot 240 to take silver. The bronze went to Turkey’s Yasemin Yilmaz with 217.9. The third Indian finalist, Rhythm Sangwan, finished 4th with 198.7.

In women’s skeet, Ganemat Sekhon settled for silver after losing to Alishia Fayth Layne of the USA in a shoot-off. Both Sekhon and Layne were tied at 46 after the end of the final. Sara Bongini of Italy took bronze in this event. Raiza Dhillon of India finished 6th in the final.

India won a total of 5 medals on Thursday. The first two came in 10m air rifle events with Rudrankksh Patil bagging silver in the men’s event while Ramita securing bronze in the women’s competition.
