ISSF Junior World Championship: Indian rifle shooters bag two medals in the first two medal events

Indian rifle shooters bagged a silver & a bronze at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship, currently underway in Lima, Peru on Thursday.

Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil secured silver in men’s junior 10m air rifle with a score of 250.0. Olympic champion William Shaner clinched gold with a score of 250.7 while his countryman Rylan William Kissel (228.2) took bronze. India’s Parth Makhija and Srikanth Dhanush finished 7th & 8th respectively in the final. Earlier on Wednesday, Patil had scored 630.2 to finish 2nd in the qualification round while Dhanush (629.6) and Makhija (629.2) finished 3rd & 4th respectively.

Ramita won India’s second medal of the day as she clinched bronze in the women’s junior 10m air rifle event. Ramita, who was struggling at the 7th spot after 10 shots in the final, made a brilliant comeback to finish on the podium with a score of 229.1. France’s Oceanne Muller won gold defeating Mary Tucker of the USA in the shoot-off after both shooters were tied at a score of 250.6. The other two finalists in the event missed out on a medal. Mehuli Ghosh finished 5th while Nisha Kanwar ended up at the 8th spot.
