Kiran, Ishaan-Sai Pratheek emerge champions at Polish International

India’s Kiran George won the men’s singles title while the duo of Ishaan Bhatnagar emerged as champions in the men’s doubles in Polish International at Zakopane on Sunday.

5th seeded Kiran George won against Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason 13-21, 21-14, 21-13 in the men’s singles final. The 21-year-old is currently ranked 101 in the BWF World Rankings and will break into the top 100 after this triumph.

The men’s doubles duo of Ishaan Bhatnagar and K Sai Pratheek also emerged as champions. The unseeded duo stunned the 4th seeded English pair of Rory Easton & Zach Russ in two close sets 21-18, 27-25.

Meanwhile, it was a disappointment for India in Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles. Unseeded Samiya Imad Farooqui was outclassed by 3rd seeded Yue Yann Jaslyn Hooi of Singapore 11-21, 9-21 for the women’s title.

In the women’s double final, the pair of Treesa Jolly & Gayatri Gopichand lost to the French pair of Margot Lambert & Anne Tran of France 10-21, 18-21.
