Prajnesh Gunneswaran entered the semifinal of Orlando Open with a dominant straight sets win over Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Popko on Friday.
The fourth seeded Indian defeated the sixth seeded Kazkakh 6-0,6-3 in the quarterfinals of the US$ 52,080 hard court tournament.
With this win, Prajnesh will move up to the 133rd position or higher in the ATP Men’s singles ranking, making him India’s number one Men’s Singles player, moving ahead of Sumit Nagal.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran will take on Christopher Eubanks of USA in the final four encounter. Eubanks had defeated second seed Denis Kudla, the winner of last week’s Cary Challenger, in the quarterfinals.
