SMAT 2021: Punjab knock Karnataka out to reach semifinals

Defending champions Karnataka were knocked out after suffering a humiliating defeat in their quarterfinal encounter Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy tournament. The Karun Nair led side were blown away in a nine-wicket defeat to Punjab at Ahemdabad.

Put into bat first, Karnataka bundled out for just 87 runs in 17.2 overs. Aniruddha Joshi top-scored for them with 27 runs.

Sidharth Kaul was the pick of the Punjab bowlers with 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs while Sandeep Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Ramandeep Singh also picked 2 wickets each.

Punjab lost opener Abhishek Sharma (4) in the first over but in-form Prabhsimran Singh (49* off 37) and skipper Mandeep Singh (35* off 33) guided their side to a comfortable win.
