Mohammed Azharuddeen’s stunning unbeaten 137 off 54 balls helped Kerala thrash Mumbai by 8 wickets as they easily chased down the target of 197 in just 15.5 overs in Elite Group E encounter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy(SMAT) on Wednesday.
Azharuddeen smashed nine fours and eleven sixes, and completed his 100 in 37 balls to score the joint third-fastest hundred in T20 cricket by an Indian batsman.
In Group D encounter between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Chahar (5/14) took a hat-trick as Rajasthan registered a 10-run victory over Madhya Pradesh.
Chasing 149, MP openers gave their side a solid start adding 40 runs for the first wicket. However, the Mumbai Indians leggie brought Rajasthan back into the game as he took two wickets off the last two balls of the powerplay and then picked up a wicket off the first ball of his next over ti complete his hattrick. He also became the third Indian to take 4 wickets off 5 balls by dismissing pinch hitter Avesh Khan. Chahar eventually ended with figures of 4-0-14-5.
MP Skipper Parth Sahani fought a lone battle for his side and kept his team in the match but he was run-out in the final over which ended all hopes for Madhya Pradesh.
