Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Nitish Rana stars in Delhi’s victory against Mumbai; Chahar cousins shine in Rajasthan’s win

Here’s a report from all the matches played on Day 2 of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021:

A Clinical Performance from Delhi was on display as they registered a clinical win against the hosts, Mumbai in Wankhede.

Delhi started the match on front foot. Openers Shikhar Dhawan 23 off 23 balls( 2 Fours) and Hiten Dalal 24 off 13 balls (5 fours), with a strike rate 184.62, gave their team a solid start. Later it was followed by another breathtaking storm from Nitish Rana 74 off 37 balls (7 fours and 5 sixes) and his companions Himmat Singh 53 off 32 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes), Lalit Yadav 21* off 10 balls(2 fours and 1 six) taking Delhi to a mammoth score of 206/4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the hosts never looked like they are in the game, Delhi ace trios Simranjeet ( 2/29), Ishant Sharma (2/16) and Pradeep Sangwan (3/20) dazzled past the star-studded top order of Mumbai. IPL Stalwart Surya Kumar Yadav got out for a low score(7 runs). Shivam Dube 63 off 42 balls ( 3 fours and 5 sixes) provided a late blitzkrieg to Mumbai but the required rate was too much for the individual to handle. Delhi was too emphatic and clinical in opening encounter match of Elite Group E against the hosts.

Saurashtra registered a 3 wicket win against Services in Elite Group D Clash in Indore. Batting first, Rahul Singh scored 76 of 40 balls to take Services to 163/6 in 20 overs. In reply cameos from Avi Barot 24(24), Harvik Desai 22(16), Arpit Vasavada 34(26), Chirag Jani 34*(19) and Vishvaraj Jadeja 23(10) helped Saurashtra to chase 163 with 5 balls to spare.

Kerala scored a comforscored victory against Pondicherry in Elite Group E Clash in Mumbai Jalal Saxena’s bowled an excellent spell of 3/13 as he helped Kerala to restrict Pondicherry to 138/6.
Kerala chased the total with cameos from Sanju Samson 32(26), Mohammad Azharuddeem 30(18) and Robin Uthappa 21(18) to seal the game with 10 balls to spare.

Bihar 122 all out 20 overs (Manav Patil 4-0-20-4) beat Arunachal Pradesh 104/9 in 20 overs (Ashutosh Aman 4-0-17-3, Sachin Kumar Singh 4-0-22-3) by 18 runs.

Mizoram 47/3 in 5 overs lost to Sikkim 50/0 in 3.4 overs.
