Tokyo Olympics: Lovlina Borgohain confirms second medal for India

Tokyo Olympics: Women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain confirmed the second medal for India as she reached the semifinals of the women’s welterweight category at the Kokugikan Arena on Friday.
Lovlina defeated Chen Nien-Chin of Taiwan by split decision 4:1 in the quarterfinals of Women’s (64-69kg) category to assure herself a medal.
23-year-old Lovlina, who was making her Olympic debut, is a two-time World Championships medalist. She will face reigning World Champion Busenaz Sürmeneli of Turkey in the semifinals.

However, it was a disappointment for Simranjit Kaur. The 4th seeded Indian lost to Sudaporn Seesondee of Thailand in Women’s Light (57-60kg) in round of 16 by unanimous decision.
