Tokyo Olympics: Lovlina Borgohain one win away from medal; India’s campaign in TT ends

Tokyo Olympics: Women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain is now just a win away from a medal as she made it to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Welterweight quarterfinals at Kokugikan Arena on Tuesday.

Lovlina defeated Nadine Apetz of Germany by split decision 3-2 to enter the Women’s Welterweight (64-69kg) quarterfinals. She will face Chen Nien-Chin in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, India’s campaign in table tennis came to an end with the exit of Achanta Sharath Kamal in the third round. Sharath was defeated by defending champion Ma Long of China 7-11, 11-8, 11-13, 4-11, 4-11 in 46 minutes.

In shooting, there was more disappointment for India as the pairs of Elavenil Valarivan-Divyansh Singh Panwar & Anjum Moudgil-Deepak Kumar failed to make it to Stage 2 of 10m air pistol mixed team event. Elavenil-Divyansh finished 12th with 626.5 points, while Anjum-Deepak with 623.8 points ended up at 18th position.
