Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu storms into quarterfinals

Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu stormed into the quarter-finals of the women’s singles the Tokyo Olympics after defeating Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark in the Round of 16 at the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza.

Sixth seed Sindhu defeated 13th seed Mia Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-13 in 41 minutes. Sindhu will face the winner of Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and Kim Gaeun of South Korea in the quarterfinals.

In Rowing, the pair of Arjun Jat and Arvind Singh ended up at the fifth position in the Final B of the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls event. Their final rank was 11. Arjun and Arvind were the first Indians to compete in a double sculls semifinals at the Olympics. Their ranking was also the best-ever for any Indians in a Rowing event at the Olympics. In Rio 2016, Dattu Bhokanal has finished 13th in the single sculls competition.
