World Athletics U20 World Championships: Priya Mohan finishes 4th with personal best effort

Quarter mile runner Priya Mohan finished 4th in women’s 400m race at the ongoing 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi on Saturday.

The 18-year-old Indian clocked her personal best timing of 52.77 to finish at the fourth spot. Her previous best was 53.29 which she had achieved in June. Imaobong Nse Uko of Nigeria won gold with a timing of 51.55 while Poland’s Kornelia Lesiewicz (51.97) and Kenya’s Sylvia Chelangat (52.23) took silver and bronze respectively.

Priya Mohan was also a part of mixed 4x400m relay team which clinched bronze on Wednesday. She will also feature in the women’s 4x400m relay final to be held tomorrow.

Indian men’s 4x400m relay team failed to progress to the final. The Indian quartet of Abdur Razak, Sumit Chahal, Kapil and Bharath Sridhar clocked 3:10.62 to finish 6th in heat 2 and 11th overall.

Baljeet Kaur finished 7th among 34 competitors in women’s 10,000m walk. She produced her personal best timing of 48:58.17.
